Café Collab
CCACA (California Conference for the Advancement of Ceramic Arts) Davis, CA 2013.
My collegue MaryAnne Carey and I operated Café Collab throughout the duration of the conference. The Café was a sidewalk facing, outdoor milkshake stand where chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry milkshakes were offered to passers-by in exchange for their time. Participants were instructed to "roll clay spheres and add them to the collaborative sculpture in the time it takes us to make you a milkshake." (Deviating from 'spheres' was encouraged). Over the course of three days, many milkshakes were enjoyed and a temporary, collaborative public monument was built and displayed in downtown Davis.
